The Alaskan Malamute: North America's oldest dog breed of dog, representing a history of 4000-7000 years or more of genetic separation from all other dog breeds found on the North American continent. The most majestic and regal of the "Arctic Sled Dogs", the malamute was primarily used for heavy freighting and packing by the Mahlemut Inuit's for their personal cargo, and their hunting catch. Today the Malamaute remains the most majestic breed of dog and one of the 14 "ancient dog breeds" in the world.
Natalie Norris, a sage Malamute Breeder and founding member of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America, Inc. (AMCA), once said;
"The Malamute is too fine and distinguished a breed to be changed into anything but what centuries of adaptability to its environment has produced. Our efforts should be to breed not only beautiful Malamutes, but as good a specimen physically as were originally found in Alaska. It isn't a question of breeding a better Malamute but as good a Malamute."
Mrs. Norris' statement is as true today as it was the day she first spoke those words. Every malamute breeder today owes their breeding passion to those who've come before us. Without the diligent work of so many breeders of the past we simply would not have the Malamutes Ali-Mic has today. The same holds true for the many AMCA members who have coached and assisted us along the way. We have spent years learning as much as we can about these majestic Malamutes, in order so that we too may breed "as good a malamute" as those whom have traveled the road we travel today.
Once again, Welcome to Ali-Mic Alaskan Malamutes.
